Senator Andy Kim’s Statement on the Newly Announced Trade Deal Between USA and South Korea
October 29th, 2025
WASHINGTON D.C. – Today, Senator Andy Kim (D-NJ) released the following statement in response to the newly announced trade deal between the United States and South Korea, which includes a $150 billion dollar shipbuilding partnership.
“During my visit to Seoul in August, I called on President Trump to attend the APEC Summit and work to deepen and broaden our relationship with South Korea; the announcements we’re seeing between our two countries serves as a reminder of what we can do when we invest in this alliance.
“We are safer and more prosperous when we work closely with our allies, especially critical partners like South Korea. The benefits won’t just be seen in the Indo-Pacific; New Jersey and our region serve as the American homes to major South Korean companies and South Jersey and the surrounding area can serve as the focal point for a new generation of South Korean supported American shipbuilding.
“The future is bright if we work together, and I look forward to continuing to work with colleagues from both sides of the aisle to further strengthen this relationship so we can deliver for the American people.”
