Senator Andy Kim Invites Rep. Tom Kean Jr. to Join Him at July Town Hall in Westfield, NJ

July 16, 2025

JERSEY CITY, N.J. Today, Senator Andy Kim (D-NJ) announced that his next town hall will be taking place on Saturday, July 19th at 10 am in Westfield, New Jersey. Senator Kim will hear concerns from residents within New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District (NJ-07) and communities across the state and discuss what is next after Republicans’ disastrous budget reconciliation bill was signed into law on July 4th, solidifying historic cuts to Medicaid, food assistance, and other essential services that New Jersey families rely on.

Senator Kim will also speak with community members about the impact of recent flooding on Westfield and surrounding areas and discuss his work to defend critical federal disaster response and stop the Trump administration from gutting the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

Following through on his long-held commitment to hold town halls and be accessible to New Jerseyans, Senator Kim held 81 town halls before being sworn in to the Senate at the end of 2024. Since joining the Senate, he’s held seven town halls, reaching thousands of people across the state, and making sure he remains accountable to the people of New Jersey.

In this spirit, Senator Kim invites Congressman Tom Kean Jr. to join him at this town hall so the Congressman can explain to his constituents why he helped pass a budget that will put hospitals and health care centers in his district at risk of reducing services and put food banks at risk of closure, all while driving up costs for NJ-07 residents so that billionaires can have lower taxes.

In a letter responding to the Congressman on July 1st, Senator Kim made the explicit invitation for the pair to hold a joint in-person town hall in NJ-07 to answer questions from community members and explain their votes directly to their shared constituents.
