WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today in a Senate Banking Committee hearing, Senator Kim questioned U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent about conflicts of interest that are running rampant in the Trump administration without any accountability:
“This is the problem right now we see with these conflicts of interest. We see the Trump family getting involved in different roles even though they don’t have official positions. We see Pakistan now announcing that they are going to use Trump’s family’s company’s crypto for cross border transactions and trade. Does that not concern you?…
“When we see Trump pardoning Binance Founder Zhao and seeing instead investigating Jerome Powell. When we see Trump is now suing the IRS and Treasury for $10 billion. He even said, ‘I am supposed to work out a settlement with myself.’…Do you think that is a conflict of interest?”

Senator Kim specifically outlined the example of President Trump’s son-in-law participating in official negotiations with Russia, without the same accountability or transparency because he lacks an official title. The Senator stated: “If he wants to participate in that then he should go by the same financial disclosures and getting rid of conflicts of interest that every other senior government official, including yourself, have to go through.”
