CONNECTING THE DOTS: Trump is Using the Power of Government for Himself, not US

November 24, 2025

WASHINGTON, D.C. – In a new video feature released today, Senator Andy Kim (D-NJ) outlined Donald Trump’s latest actions to manipulate, abuse, and distort the very foundation of who we are as a nation to build a system that empowers him and targets the American people.

Senator Kim outlines: “Military on our streets. A president out of control…Imagine each headline and image you see is a dot. Separately, the picture can be fuzzy butwhen you zoom out and see how the dots connect, you see the bigger picture: a plan to take a government that is supposed to work for you and distort it, and manipulate it, to work for him and against you.”

Diving into Trump’s presidency, Senator Kim puts the pieces of chaos and corruption together, including manufacturing enemies, attempting to turn the military into his own personal army, sending troops to police the streets of our own cities, and taking military action abroad to justify actions at home.

Senator Kim’s call to action for the American people: If we’re going to stop this, if we’re going to have a government that actually serves the people and not just those in power, and ensures that your way of life is protected, it’s important to see the bigger picture.”

Today’s video is a part of Senator Kim’s ongoing work to stand up to President Trump’s lawlessness, including against him deciding to use military force in the Caribbean Sea and threatening military escalation without the necessary legal basis or proper justification to Congress. This month, the Senator supported a War Powers Resolution that would block further strikes on Venezuela and prevent the President from escalating tensions that risk an all-out war in the region.

Before being elected to the U.S. Senate, Senator Kim represented New Jersey’s Third Congressional District in the U.S. House and was a career public servant working in national security and diplomacy at the White House, State Department, and Pentagon.
