Building a Universal Care Movement
A Bold Care Agenda Rooted in Our Shared Humanity and Responsibility to One Another
Millions of Americans struggle to provide care for their loved ones—the physical, mental, emotional, and financial strain that many of us know all too well. But why is it so hard to provide care in this country? Why is it so complicated, so expensive, and so isolating? Â
Last year, Senator Kim’s father was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s dementia, and the Senator became his father’s primary caregiver. Along with these responsibilities, the Senator set out to find answers to these questions that plague so many families.Â
Like millions of Americans, Senator Kim is caught in the Sandwich Generation, caring for his young children as well as his aging parents. He believes we must build a care movement that delivers tangible solutions for the millions of Americans who are in the same position he is—and the millions more who risk falling into the Sandwich Generation if we don’t act now.Â
He laid out his vision for a care movement that re-ignites our shared responsibility to care for one another and our nation in his Maiden Speech on the Senate Floor on December 9th, 2026. Senator Kim is dedicated to fighting for care that is universal and affordable, innovative and impactful, simple and accessible, and grounded in community. Â

Senator Kim released a video documenting his journey to becoming a caregiver after his father was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2025. Â
While in the U.S. Senate, Senator Kim is fighting to deliver a bold care agenda that centers caregivers and works to find a cure for Alzheimer’s. The Senator believes that everyone should be able to access the care they need for themselves and their loved ones.Â
