WASHINGTON, D.C. – During a 6-hour marathon voting session last night, Senator Andy Kim (D-NJ) fought to lower costs for working families while Senate Republicans chose to instead funnel more of Americans’ money to Trump’s lawlessness. While Senate Republicans chose to give up to $140 billion to Trump’s ICE and CBP, with no reforms or accountability, the Senator voted for amendments brought forward by his Democratic colleagues to redirect that money and bring down costs across the board — from healthcare costs and Trump’s Iran war tax, to what people are spending at the grocery.
“We have to show that this is a choice. This is a choice between continuing to funnel money to the corporations and the billionaires, to Trump’s inner circle at the expense of the American people, continue to funnel this to ICE, and to the lawlessness that we see of Stephen Miller’s campaign against immigrants. Or we could funnel this towards the American people that are struggling right now. This is a choice before us right now in the Senate. And this a choice, honestly, all across America.”
