Key quotes from Senator Kim’s video:
“[Emil Bove] is the personal lawyer to President Trump. I oppose Mr. Bove’s nomination, and I will make that known here to the Senate Judiciary Committee, and I hope that we can be able to stop this nomination because he has no right being a federal judge.”
“What we need with a separate branch of government are people that are going to respect the law, respect the Constitution in the United States, first and foremost, not political actors that are going to be able to do the bidding of President Trump. And that’s why I opposed this nomination.”
This comes as Senator Kim also submitted a letter of testimony for the record this morning to the Judiciary Committee opposing Mr. Bove’s nomination. In the letter, he raises concerns about Mr. Bove’s decision to dismiss serious charges of corruption against New York’s Mayor Eric Adams earlier this year, as well as raised concerns about Mr. Bove’s loyalty to Trump, and not the law, which will impede judgement when deciding cases and will call into question the neutrality of the 3rd circuit.
Before being elected to the U.S. Senate, Kim represented New Jersey’s Third Congressional District in the U.S. House and was a career public servant working in national security and diplomacy at the White House, State Department, and Pentagon.
