Senator Kim Statement Opposing the Confirmation of Tulsi Gabbard as Director of National Intelligence
February 12, 2025
WASHINGTON D.C. – Today, Senator Andy Kim released the following statement against the confirmation of former Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard as Director of National Intelligence:
“As someone who has worked in national security, including directly with the Director of National Intelligence, I cannot vote to put our nation’s trust in Tulsi Gabbard. This is the person tasked with briefing the President on the biggest threats to the American people and requires incredible knowledge and judgement. Ms. Gabbard‘s past decisions to meet with and amplify disinformation from our adversaries is disqualifying. The President deserves someone in this role proven to put American interests first. This is the wrong appointment and one I strongly oppose.”
Senator Kim is a member of the Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation; the Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs; the Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP); the Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs; and the Special Committee on Aging. Before being elected to the U.S. Senate, Kim represented New Jersey’s Third Congressional District in the U.S. House and was a career public servant working in national security and diplomacy at the White House, State Department, and Pentagon.
