Senator Andy Kim’s Statement on FY 2026 National Defense Authorization Act Vote
October 9th, 2025
WASHINGTON D.C. – Today, Senator Andy Kim (D-New Jersey) released the following statement after voting ‘no’ on final passage of the Fiscal Year 2026 National Defense Authorization Act:
“I can’t in good faith vote to pass a defense authorization when this President is using our brave men and women in uniform as his personal intimidation tool and executing actions abroad without any legal basis. Our service members deserve the best because they have chosen to dedicate themselves to the defense of our nation. We should make sure they’re paid well, that their families are taken care of, and that they have the equipment they need to do the job; but most of all, we need to make sure that they serve the country and the Constitution, not the whims of one man. We owe our service members that, and I will work with my colleagues to make sure that our military’s mission is one of defense, not suppression.”
