North Jersey Regional Director

The Office of Senator Andy Kim seeks a North Jersey Regional Director to oversee outreach and community engagement across Hudson, Morris, Bergen, Union, Hunterdon, Somerset, Essex, Sussex, Warren, Passaic, and Middlesex counties. The Regional Director will serve as the Senator’s representative in the region, build and maintain relationships with local leaders and organizations, monitor regional issues and developments, and ensure that constituents receive timely and effective support from the Office.

The ideal applicant will be a proactive communicator who can cultivate meaningful partnerships, manage multiple priorities, and represent the Senator with professionalism and discretion.

Responsibilities

  • Leads and manages a small team of employees; carries out responsibilities in accordance with office policy and all applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training and managing the performance of North Jersey outreach staff.
  • Represents the Senator in eleven counties across North Jersey, including meeting and maintaining professional relationships with federal, state, and local elected officials and agencies; staff from congressional delegation offices; stakeholder organizations; community and business leaders; and constituents;
  • Works with the State Director and Senator to identify strategic priorities, design, assign and execute plans to achieve key objectives;
  • Communicates internally with policy, communications, scheduling, casework, intergovernmental, and grants staff in the Office regarding issues affecting the communities in his/her assigned region (and, as necessary, throughout the state);
  • Accompanies the Senator on visits throughout the state;
  • Acts as a public and private surrogate or representative on behalf of the Senator in-state when he cannot be present;
    Serves as the point person who supervises the execution of staffing and administrative needs in Jersey City; and
  • Performs special projects and other duties as assigned by the Senator.

 

Preferred Experience

  • 5-10 years of relevant work experience
  • 5-10 years of management experience
