Senator Andy Kim seeks a Research Assistant to conduct research & oversight related to good governance, federal spending transparency, and government reform issues.

The ideal applicant will have exceptional writing, communication, and organizational skills, an understanding of federal spending processes, transparency and disclosure requirements, an interest in oversight & investigations, and a demonstrated commitment to public service.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists Senior Counsel, the Legislative Director, Chief of Staff (as needed) and Senator, as well as other staff members in the formulation of legislative initiatives;
  • Meets with stakeholder groups, oversight offices, Congressional offices, as well as state and federal agencies;
  • Tracks relevant news, developments, and legislation in assigned portfolio and briefs Senior Counsel, the Legislative Director, Chief of Staff (as needed), and Senator, as well as other staff members;
  • Performs background research and develops expertise in assigned areas;
  • Drafts oversight letters, organizes responses and conducts follow up, as appropriate;
  • Performs special projects assigned by the Senator, Chief of Staff, Legislative Director, and/or Senior Counsel.

 

Preferred Experience

  • 1-2 years of relevant work experience
